Carlos Falchi’s Buffalo bag returns to Bergdorfs
Thirty years ago, Carlos Falchi debuted the much sought-after python-skin Buffalo satchel. With its unconstructed, slouchy silhouette, the Buffalo became an easy favorite with the fringe-wearing glitterati who rebelled against the European rigid-structured bag. Falchi’s design of the relaxed Buffalo has always been meticulously crafted and able to maintain its shape for generations. Women’s Wear Daily claimed it to be “the most copied bag in the industry.”
The bag has long since been vaulted, but on Sept. 22 and 23, Carlos Falchi himself returns to Bergdorf Goodman to celebrate the satchel’s 30th anniversary and to reintroduce the legendary bag to fans old and new.
The two-day handbag affair will be held at the 5th and 58th Street Bergdorfs on the Mainfloor from 1 to 5p.m. and will feature Falchi, a Council of Fashion Designers of America design winner, who will be available for meet-and-greets, autographs and questions.
Of course, also making an appearance, the Buffalo will be offered in an exclusive assortment created specifically for the event. The iconic silhouette is brought back to life in rich crimson, cobalt, emerald and crushed yellow. The jewel-tone looks will be available in various sizes and in messenger, satchel and shoulder-bag shapes.
The limited collection will only be available for a few days at the 5th and 58th Bergdorf Goodmans and online at BergdorfGoodman.com. Purchase one of the Buffalo bags before it’s too late!
