Combining Fashion and Politics for New York

Designer, Nanette Lepore will partner with New York Senator, Kirsten Gillibrand once again. Though, this time they’ll team to create a shirt to help support the Senator’s new campaign.

The influence of fashion continues with this most recent partnership. The first time they collaborated was aimed to save the ‘Garment Center,’ which continues to be a hot topic of discussion. Now, this partnering will be to support the Senator’s role in bringing about continued change as Senator.

“She came to me to hear about the Garment Center cause and has been actively on it ever since,” Lepore said. “Since our meeting, she has had her economic development director on the case in order to stay on it. I was really impressed with her — she’s a go-getter and extremely sincere.”

It will be a limited edition T-shirt available through Gillibrand’s website. For $25 you can help support keeping Senator Gillibrand in office, who aims to ‘bring a voice to the people of New York.’

Not only is this a powerful role model for women, but it also helps to symbolize the role of fashion to New York’s culture and economy!

What could be more LUX than combining talents for change? It’s inspiring to see the influence of fashion and politics come together to cement the evolution of women’s roles and examples of new leadership!

Well, LUXies what do you think of Lepore’s t-shirt design for the Senator? Do you believe in collaborations such as this?
