LUX Love: Padma’s Jewelry with a Message

You may have seen Padma Lakshmi alongside Tom Colicchio on Top Chef or maybe you picked up her cookbook Easy Exotic during a bookstore visit. When the former model isn’t showing off her culinary prowess, she can be found campaigning for her nonprofit the Endometriosis Foundation of America.

Padma has combined her love for culture, style and charity in a great jewelry collection, appropriately titled Padma. Her garnet jasmine earrings, on display at Neiman Marcus, feature beautiful hand sculpted gold with a modern twist on jewelry of the east. On her site, Padma says about her collection, “As I traveled through my life, I gathered many baubles and coveted those gifts passed on to me by my Indian family.” She goes on to say, “My life in the west, America, and Europe, heavily influenced my tastes. I find that while I loved those pieces, I wanted more delicate, modern versions of them to wear with everything…”

What’s so special about these earrings? Twenty percent of every purchase goes to her charity, EFA, giving the women affected a chance at early detection and treatment.

The debilitating gynecological condition, endometriosis, affects approximately five to ten percent of women and is one of the top three reasons for infertility. Because the symptoms are varied and often easily misdiagnosed, many women go far too long and suffer the disastrous effects on their reproductive system.

Go to NeimanMarcus.com to purchase the earrings for an admirable cause or surf directly over to EndoFound.org to donate directly to the source.
