LUX-o-Nomics Alert: Consignment Stores Show Increase in Never-worn Shoes

LUXies, it seems there is a growing trend in the consignment store market. There has been an increase in the sales of ‘previously-owned’ shoes. This means that shoes that were once purchased and never worn or worn only once are being turned in with much greater volume.

It seems this economic landscape has shifted our stigma to wearing shoes that have been previously worn and the demand in this area has greatly increased! Good news for consignment stores and for those of us who have once bought a pair of shoes still in the box and are looking for some much needed cash!

The most sought after pairs are obviously high-end designer names, due to the fact that to buy the real pair you would have to truly budget well and you can get the ‘authentic finds’ used for a fraction of the price.

Now, most consignment stores will only take shoes that have been made in the last two years and depending on the store they can take up to 40-70% of the profit. They are also highly selective in the quality of shoes they will accept, so sellers beware not all shoes will pass the grade!

So for all you bargain shoppers be ware of a new ‘treasure chest’ at consignment stores! For all you looking for a creative way to raise some summer cash, look to last year’s shoes still in the box—perhaps that box of gold is hidden in the back of your closet. 😉 LIVE.LOVE.LUX
