Printemps Steps into Alice In Wonderland

One of the most anticipated movies coming out this year is Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland. The childhood favorite is back but this time as a sequel to the original story and with that Johnny Depp flavor. With the movie release coming up on March 5th, everyone has forgotten about vampires and focused their inspiration on Alice and her friends, including the Printemps the French department store.

Printemps has transformed their department store into the fantasy world of teapots, dizzying checkered prints, rabbits, mushrooms and more. The shelves were decked out in “Mad Hatter” and “Alice” themes and decorative delicious desserts for the tea party thrown by Ladurée. There is even a teapot hanging from the ceiling but that isn’t even the main attraction. The real stars of the show are the marvelous display windows that Printemps and ten designers collaborated on. Each designer got their own window to create outfits and sets and interpret their version of Alice. The designers include, Bernard Willhelm, Christopher Kane, Nicholas Kirkwood, Ann Demeulemeester, Charles Anastase, Chloé, the late Alexander McQueen, Manish Arora, Maison Martin Margiela, and Haider Ackermann.

Designers went all out creating designs with tulles, decks of cards, checkered tights, and even a of pair custom shoes by Nicholas Kirkwood. The heels on Kirkwood’s signature platform are detailed with flowers, leaves, a checkered heels and a watch for the T-strap. These shoes will remain a fantasy and sadly enough won’t be available for sale.

Catch the art spectacular while you can. The windows will be on display until March 14th.
