Radar: SJP will present tribute award at CFDA

The “Sex and The City” star will pay tribute to former fashion icon and friend, Alexander McQueen at the CFDA Awards on June 7. Sarah Jessica Parker always felt a kindred spirit with the avant garde designer, and regularly wore his pieces to premieres, such as the London showing of the first “Sex and The City” film. In a statement shortly after his death, Parker said, “What is more devastating is that despite all his success thus far creatively, critically and commercially, his greatest achievements lay ahead of him.“Although he won’t be here to relish in his success, the award shows that his name precedes him and even though he won’t be walking the runway—his styles will never stop inspiring the world.”

Just in case you’re a voter. The deadline for the CFDA Awards and L’Oréal Popular Vote Award ends Friday at 11:59p.m. WWD has some juicy details on the soirée’s presenters. Caroline Kennedy is expected to present the Eleanor Lambert Award to Vogue fashion director Tonne Goodman and Matt Tyrnauer (director of ‘Valentino: The Last Emperor’) will be awarding Michael Kors with the Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award.
