The Intimate Performance of ‘The Dying Swan’ for Karl Lagerfeld

LUXies, Chanel has simply taken our breath away with this newly designed costume for the English National Ballet!! p>

Chanel has been apart of masterfully creating several ensembles in the past, but this one just might surpass them all. The tutu featured above is simply exquisite down to the last feather. That’s right, it was carefully designed using over ‘2,500 ostrich plumes and turkey, hen and cock feathers layered over the tulle and silk net.’ The whole garment was especially crafted for the English National Ballet’s season of the Ballet Russes at Sadler’s Wells in London opening this June!

“We always say that the look is 50% of how you are going to dance, so it is very important to have a beautiful costume,” remarks Glurdgidze of Chanel’s involvement. –via Luxuryculture.com

The picture above captures Elena Glurdjidze, senior principal dancer at the English National Ballet, dancing ‘The Dying Swan’ impromptu for Karl Lagerfeld right in Chanel’s couture salon in Paris all apart of her first fitting. The ‘in the moment’ ballet performance was simply flawless and elegant!! Not to mention, the whole seamless dance was captured on film by Lagerfeld himself!! wink

As you can see this ensemble mimics the movement of a swan to beautifully match the essence of the performance. It adds to the grace and delicacy of the ballet art form, while also adding a bit of high fashion in the mix!!

Performances will be held by Elena Glurdjidze on June 16 -20 and June 30 in London before moving to Barcelona in September of this year. For more information, visit Ballet.org.uk and to check out the full performance on video, visit Chanel.com.
