Venus Williams’ New Green T at U.S. Open

Eco-Tennis Fans, it seems we can expect more than heated matches from this year’s U.S. Open tennis tournament!! Venus Williams who launched her own collection, EleVen, in 2007 has designed an eco-T that will be part of the offerings of the U.S. Open merchandise; supporting both sustainability and green fashion in a whole new way.

Williams said the piece combines three of her interests — “tennis, fashion and the environment.”

Don’t worry LUXies, you can get your own Venus’ Green T without actually attending the Open by visiting their official site. What makes this even more LUX is that a percentage of the profits will benefit Unisphere Inc., a nonprofit organization that aims at preserving the Flushing Meadows Corona Park; a meaningful cause as this is where the tournament calls home.

This eco-friendly T is only part of the ‘green initiatives’ of the United States Tennis Association. Others include, recycling locations on the premises, utilizing biodegradable utensils, plates and cups and even recyclable tennis ball cans!

So eco-loving LUXies, what do you think of this new green T? Would you sport this out on the courts?
